Creative Fun for the Kids
Want to get the kids involved in the holiday preparation or simply have some celebration day fun? Check out these exciting, kid-friendly activities.
Make Homemade Placemats:
Pick up some plain paper placemats or 11x17 inch paper sheets, crayons, markers and stickers from the craft store. Then assign every kid a few dinner guests to make placemats for and let them unleash their inner artist. These are sure to be the talk of the table.
Play Turkey Hide & Seek:
This fun game is easy to organize. Just have your kids draw or paste a picture of a turkey on a dozen or so index cards. To play, the leader hides the cards around the room and then the seekers begin the search. As each turkey is found, it’s brought back to the leader, who corrals them in a separate pile for each player. When all the turkeys have been found, the player with the most turkeys is the winner and becomes the leader for the next round.
Illuminate the Holidays:
A fun holiday activity is for the kids to help decorate the driveway with traditional luminaries. Purchase brown or white quart-sized paper bags and have them draw their own holiday designs on them. These are easily lit with small decorative candles or Sterno candles (AN ADULT SHOULD ALWAYS BE PRESENT). Place a rock or sand inside the bag to keep it from blowing in the wind.
