Just about everyone can cook up a decent burger. But this isn't just about a good burger; this is about the hunt for the perfect burger. So round up some ground turkey or fresh ground turkey patties, fire up your grill and follow these tips to help cook up the perfect burger.
Tip #1 - Toppings, toppings, toppings.
Don't be afraid to try new toppings. Everyone knows about lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion, but give your burger that extra kick with pineapple, sliced avocado, onion rings, mushrooms, jalapeños, a fried egg or, of course, turkey bacon.
Tip #2 - Clean cooking.
No one wants a dirty burger, so why cook on a dirty grill? To clean your grill while it's still cool, brush it down with a grill brush (some balled-up aluminum foil will also do the trick). If the grill is already hot, cut an onion in half and rub it on the grill cut side down. (But remember: be careful!)
Tip #3 - Cheese, please!
The easiest way to add a new twist to your burger: cheese. Savor the flavor of Swiss, cheddar, pepper jack or good ole American cheese, or mix things up with blue cheese, feta cheese or even goat cheese.
Tip #4 - Grease the grill.
Tired of burgers sticking to the grill when it's time to flip them? Brush the grill with extra virgin olive oil before cooking, and enjoy the ease of no-stick burger flipping.
Tip #5 - Toast those buns.
Place your burger buns face down on the grill a minute (or less for a lightly toasted bun) before your burgers are done, and voilà ! Tasty, toasty buns.
Tip #6 - Choose the meat.
The pursuit of grilling the perfect burger all begins with the meat. But if you've made it this far, you already know that the best-tasting burgers are made from turkey.
Tip #7 - Always try something new.
Don't be afraid to try new recipes, new marinades, new toppings or new grilling techniques. You never know when you'll hit the jackpot with the perfect burger. In fact, here are some great recipes to get you started:
